Report from this patient, male, 50 years old, American In 1992, I began experiencing some problems with my stomach. The first symptoms were weak digestion, occasional stomach cramps, and infrequent vomiting. Because the symptoms did not seem so severe, I did not undergo rigorous tests to get to the root of the problem. During my first visit to a doctor I was told that my liver was toxic and that I may have cholecystitis. I was given some medication, and I was told to wait and see if the situation improved. My problem remained, but I simply adjusted myself to a weak digestion and tolerated the inconvenience of occasional cramps and other stomach discomforts. After several years of such tolerance, the situation worsened. I began developing hyperacidity, occasional heartburn, reflux, and the infrequent vomiting became more frequent. I decided to seek alternative approaches because I was unsatisfied with the recommendations given to me by allopathic doctors. In the course of 2-3 years, I tried alternative treatments, ranging from Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and homeopathy, but because I travel extensively and continuously, I was not an ordinary patient for these doctors. They tried their best, but some complained that I had not allotted them sufficient time for overseeing the treatment of the problem. Nonetheless, I did take their medicines for the time they had prescribed. I also tried my best to follow the dietary restrictions and other recommendations which they had given to me. Still, the problem persisted and gradually worsened. My health problem was compounded by the discovery of severe hypertension early in the year 2000. I was immediately put on medication which brought the blood pressure down, but there were side-effects (pulsating headaches). Within one month, I renounced the medication because the headaches became intolerable. I once again tried an alternative approach- this time for the hypertension. Through exercise, nutritional supplements, and dietary restrictions, I was able to bring my hypertension under control for more than a year. But, due to my constant travel, in the summer of 2001, I realized that I was not able to keep my blood pressure down to acceptable levels. Under a doctor's prescription, I began taking a diuretic in May, 2001, which I have been taking right up to early 2003, when I began my AIT treatments. Regarding the stomach disorder, in January of 2002, after an endoscopic examination, I was told that the esophagal valve in my stomach was not working at all and if I wanted to correct the problem with hyperacidity and reflux, I would either have to take medication for the rest of my life or allow the doctors to surgically correct the valve. I was also told that if I did not stop the acid reflux, I could face much more serious problems in the future. I was not eager to have the surgery done, so since January of 2002, I have been taking several strong medications to reduce acidity, reflux, and chronic gastritis. Being dissatisfied with all the medications I was taking, and finding that my stomach problems were still far from being under control, I was given a recommendation from a friend to try an AIT treatment. He strongly recommended that I follow this treatment for at least one month, but much better would be two or three. I decided to try AIT for two months. I have just now completed the treatments, and I am writing this report just one day prior to my departure. Presently, my blood pressure is under control with no medication other than AIT. My blood pressure has been taken every day throughout the treatment, and although early morning readings have been erratic, during the day it has rarely exceeded 125/75mmHg. Often it was even lower. Regarding my gastritis, hyperacidity, heartburn and reflux, all the severe symptoms which I have been experiencing for the past several years have been relieved. On a few rare occasions, I have felt some slight discomfort, but it usually went away very quickly. Also, in this regard, I have stopped taking all medication other than AIT. My overal impression so far, regarding my stomach, is that I am experiencing the first real relief from this problem since 1992. I am very grateful to the doctor who treats me with AIT for the personal care and attention she has given me throughout this treatment. My overall health has improved significantly. I can say that she has a genunine care for her patients, and in my opinion, this factor, added with her knowledge of both Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, makes an excellent combination for improvement of health.
