Thrombosis
TO
WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Dec.22nd.
HISTORY OF ILLNESS
It started around 10-11 years ago with complaints about my left ankle
becoming sensitive in autumn (more moisture in the air and colder).
Symptoms were: a feeling like needles and pins in the ankle. I went
to see a doctor about this several times during the next years - nothing
wrong. During the same period I also started to complain about a vague
pain in the kidney area. Same story about the doctor.
The sensitivity in the ankle developed itself during the next year.
Sometimes more sensitive, sometimes less sensitive.
When I came to Asia initially it disappeared. But it came back later
on, probably caused by the air-conditioning. I could temper the sensitivity
by bringing the temperature of the air conditioning up. At the end of
the day my left ankle would be a little swollen. Then it started again
in my right ankle. It went up and down.
When I was in Holland about a year ago, I asked for a full medical checkup.
The diagnosis was: cholesterol a bit too high and increased liver function.
Nothing to worry about, just reduce the amount of beer.
Over the last few months the complaints disappeared.
At the beginning of August my wife came over and then it all came in
to a severe flow. First, probably caused by air-conditioning in the
night, I got what I called a very strong and very painful cold on the
muscles of my back. Every movement was painful. Breathing was painful.
Everything was painful. In the night when I went to bed I went through
hell the first 15-20 minutes before the pain would reduce. It was impossible
to lay on my sides. This improved within a fortnight.
Then we discovered that my left ankle was swollen very much. We went
to see the doctor and he diagnosed thrombosis. I had to stay in the
hospital for two days. I did not want to stay longer. I received medication.
After three to four weeks it started to improve. The ankle was out of
it and I did not have the time to go to the doctor. I told my doctor
that things were improving. He did a blood test and the clotting was
within the normal range. He doubled the anti-clotting medication. I
took it for a few days and my leg began to swell again. The pain came
back, so I stopped the anti-clotting medication. My ankle went back
to normal.
Then I started to have a pain in my right heel, which progressed to
my ankle. The ankle became red and was a bit swollen. We went to see
the doctor. He said it was caused by the same problem. I did not believe
him, but he gave me Heparine to inject. Because of my doubt, I wanted
a second opinion and went to see a well-trained Chinese doctor, she
did acupoint injection therapy (AIT) for me , which decreased the swelling
of my left ankle almost immediately. The pain in my right ankle started
to reduce, including the temperature in the morning. Today I stopped
the Heparine because I had the idea that there was a relation between
the pain in the right ankle/leg and the medicine. At this moment, I
am without pain in my leg. I believe I get right doctor and right way
to treat my disease.
